It’s Brooklyn Book Festival Time!

It’s that time again. Our FAVORITE time! It’s time to spend a week straight boozing it up with our favorite who’s who of the Brooklyn lit scene at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Oh, and talking about awesome literary things of course. And this year we have more than ever in store. We’ll have Issue 4 quite literally hot off the presses, our T-shirts and tote bags (which have become a bit of a fan favorite), and typewriters galore to be typed on. But, in even more exciting news, this year we are raffling off a Royal Quiet Deluxe typewriter! (Please note, it is not the typewriter seen in the photo above.) And, if you have questions, our resident typewriter guru/fix-it man, Managing Editor Evan Simko-Bednarski, will be present and droppin’ knowledge. So come visit us at Old Faithful, otherwise known as our usual prime spot of Table 22, at Brooklyn Borough Hall from 10AM-6PM.

But, BKBF is not just about spending 10 hours in the blazing sun hocking literary wares, it’s also about parties! And here’s where we’ll be in the days leading up to it:

Monday, September 16th: Literary Worlds: An Opening Night Party for the Brooklyn Book Festival Bookends
The crews at Electric Lit, Gigantic and Tumblr are kicking off BKBF in style and we’ll definitely be making the rounds. Dancing, drink specials, and literary people! What more could you want?

Friday, September 20th: Brooklyn Indie Party
This is one of our favorite BKBF events each year and Greenlight Bookstore has been absolutely supportive of A/S during our run. So, come say hi to us and some other amazing indie presses: Public Space, Akashic Books, Archipelago Books, Bazillion Points Books, Belladonna, BOMB Magazine, Electric Literature, Ig Publishing, Litmus Press, Melville House, One Story, Patasola Press, powerHouse Books, Stonecutter, Tin House Books, and Ugly Duckling Presse.

Saturday, September 21st: Brooklyn Book Festival Gala
Unfortunately this one is invite only, but we are thrilled to be a part of it. And, thus, want to thank everyone at BKBF for putting together such an inspirational evening.

Sunday, September 22nd: BKBF!
The Big Day! Come visit! Table 22! That is all.

Also, if you haven’t seen our issue 4 cover… well, take a look at THAT beauty!

  1. EDITOR says:

Please note the Royal in the photo is an old No. 10, not the Quiet Deluxe. The No. 10, though gorgeous, is a heavy showpiece. the Quiet Deluxe, which we will picture in another post, is a solid workhorse, worth of actual use on any desk.
